Happy Hour: Idols Of The South

• Starting next spring, Jefferson Street will be getting a makeover using a new $800K grant awarded by the state to clean things up a bit. They’re hoping to draw in the tourists by planting some flowers, mowing the grass, painting a few murals, and putting up more directional signage. But flowers or not, they still have Knock Out Wings. • After jacking up our electric bills by 20%, the TVA is now asking for their permits back for two half-finished nuclear reactors just over the Alabama border in hopes of preparing for more energy demand down the road. [Tennessean]
• This morning when we read the tragic story of the shooting of a brother and sister in East Nashville, we had no idea that the brother was Vandy anthropology professor Pierre Colas. Colas was found dead in his home along with his sister, who was seriously injured. [WTVF]
• A fight over a parking space at MTSU turned violent when one student pulled a knife on the other. Fortunately, injuries weren’t life-threateining. [WKRN]
